![]() If you’ve played Nier Automata, you may remember how there’s constantly this army of robots who attack 2B and 9S because the network tells them to attack all intruders etc. Welcome to Nuke Automata, where the entire world is void of human life, with only robots left behind living the memories of their human creators without knowing why they are doing so. Everything is adorable as hell, they have the most realistic meows (voice acted by actual cats rather than stock noises) and then due to a catastrophic accident, our hero orange kitty falls down super far below into an abandoned contamination shelter where there are no signs of human life. The game starts off as you, a stray kitty, many many years into the future, in some sewage area with your kitty friends. ⚠️Warning: This review contains spoilers. In order to avoid spoilers I basically ignored all info about the game other than “Cyberpunk and cat” which put me in for an unpleasant surprise. I also would love if instead of running to jump off of platform edges, we could swipe up to jump.Īdditionally, I wish there was a feature where the enemies drop coins when they are killed. So because I love every kind of cat and I just want to hug every cat, I decided to get Stray on Steam as it got released this past week. I wish instead of double tapping and holding to run, there could be something else to toggle the switch between walking and running. However, the controls were a little bit frustrating. After finding out that this game was created by such a small team, it made me appreciate it even more. The graphics are adorable, the cats are so cute, and the sound effects and music added to the gameplay. Some of them are necessary to unlock certain secret passageways or to get some collectable bells. It can be accessed by clicking on the gold square in the top left, next to the button to switch cats. At the end of each level, you can get double the amount of coins by watching a video.Ĭurrently, there are 12 items in the shop. The more coins that you obtain, the better because coins can be used to unlock items in the shop. In each level, there are 3 bells that are hidden and meant to be collected and many coins to collect. ![]() If you happen to die, there’s a chance to watch an ad and be revived. But if the stun period is over and you get hit by an enemy, then you can continue on. I also noticed that if you get hit again when stunned then you die. Walking into enemies will stun you for a couple of seconds if you are not running into the enemies as McMeow. Players tap and hold on the left and right side of the screen to move the cats left and right respectively and can double tap and hold to make the cats run in the intended direction. In terms of gameplay, the controls are quite simple. Players can switch cats by clicking on the gray cat icon on the top left throughout the levels. For example, McMeow can run into enemies and kill them and Shinji can swim against strong water currents. Each cat has different abilities that are useful in different situations. I believe there are 9 playable cats: Alex, McMeow, Shinji, Kuro, Amy, Brutus, Olli, Luna, and Robo Kitty. ![]() I really liked all the scenes so far and enjoyed seeing the interactions between the cats and other characters.Īs you adventure and progress deeper into the game, you may encounter different cats that will join your team. Sometimes during levels, there will be cutscenes that unravel the story. So, although Super Cat Tales 2 is the sequel, I don’t think that it is necessary to play Super Cat Tales first before playing Super Cat Tales 2. I haven’t played the first Super Cat Tales game but I was told story timeline-wise, Super Cat Tales 2 actually takes place before Super Cat Tales. Storywise, it is up to Alex (the main cat/character) and his Super Cat Crew to defeat the Tin Army before they destroy the world. It makes it easier to tell which levels have been completed perfectly and which ones still have things to collect. I love how each level has the unfound collectables circling around its square. The game functions are similar to other platformer games, like Super Mario, where there are several different worlds (seven I believe) and each world has different levels to complete. Super Cat Tales 2 is honestly so adorable. The final content update was released in May 2020 so now the game is officially complete in terms of the story. ![]() Super Cat Tales 2 is a platformer/adventure game developed by Neutronized and the sequel to Super Cat Tales. ![]()
